Wanda F. Overby, 84
Wanda Faye (Thompson) Overby, 84, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away at her home on Thursday, May 31, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Wanda was born on June 3, 1933, in Austin, Minnesota to Melvin and Alice (Albright) Thompson. She graduated from Austin High School in 1951. On Dec. 26, 1952, Wanda married Carstin “Bud” Overby and Wanda stayed home to raise their nine children.
She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school. Wanda was in the Hungry Dozen CB Club and was on a bowling league. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, attending sporting events with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Twins.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Carstin “Bud” Overby, Austin; children, Linda (Lupe) Castellanos, Kathy Barnes, Cindy (Rod) McAlister, Peggy (Craig) Nelson, Wendy (Dwight) Overby, Tammy Overby, Randy (Linda) Overby, Jody (Bill) Finnegan and Eddy Overby; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister: Nancy (Vern) Tripp; brother: Danny (Carol) Thompson; sisters-in-law: Marion Lingbeck and Jean Sullivan; brothers-in-law: Richard (Janet) Overby and Charles Overby; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Thompson; mother, Alice Thompson; granddaughter, Jessica Rae Overby; son-in-law, Bill Barnes; nine brothers and sisters; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Mabel Overby.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. John Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. and for one hour before the service on Wednesday.
