Meinard E. Haberman, 76
Meinard E. Haberman, 76, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus-Rochester.
He was born Oct. 11, 1941, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Edward and Mary (Rysavy) Haberman. Meinard was a lifelong Blooming Prairie area resident and belonged to St. Columbanus Catholic Church. He made his living working at the Union Creamery in Blooming Prairie as a butter maker, for Lysne Construction and for Cybex in Owatonna, Minnesota. On Aug. 26, 1961, Meinard and Janice Marie Branderhorst were married at Litomysl Catholic Church. The couple raised five children. Meinard enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening, or driving around the countryside. He also liked playing cards and going to farm shows. In later years, Meinard spent his leisure time sitting in his garage on his workbench eating his peanuts. He was a hard-working man and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janice Haberman of Blooming Prairie; his children, Richard Haberman of Claremont, Minnesota, Brian (Becky) Haberman of Northwood, Iowa, Jane Techau of Owatonna, Larry Haberman of Blooming Prairie and Thomas (Jessica) Haberman of Blooming Prairie; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Haberman and Eddie (Nelda) Haberman, both of Blooming Prairie; sister, Mary Alice (Ronnie) DeShanne of Ellendale, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Shannon; and his sister-in-law, Connie.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. A rosary service will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Monday at the end of the visitation at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery in Blooming Prairie.
