30 candidates file for office: Headed for August primary, November election

Filing for city, county and soil and water district elections ended at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. In total, 13 candidates will be competing for city seats, 14 for county seats and three for Soil and Water District seats on Nov. 6.
City
Six city seats are up for grabs in November:
• Council member-at-large — Ward 1 incumbent Jeff Austin, Susan Fell Johnson, and Lynn Spainhower.
• Council member, Ward 1 — Jeff Arneson, Aaron Jones, and Rebecca Waller. A fourth candidate, Dennis Schminke, filed to run, but withdrew his candidacy Wednesday afternoon.
• Council member, Ward 2 — Jason Baskin.
• Council member Ward 3 — Brian E. Heimer, Joyce Poshusta, and Nathan Wradislavsky.
• Utility Board Commissioner (two seats) — incumbent Geoff Baker, Steve Greenman, and incumbent Jeanne F. Sheehan.
County
Seven county seats are up for election in November:
• County Commissioner District 3 — Loren Bellrichard, Duane Felt, Penra Grimley, and incumbent Jerry Reinartz.
• County Commissioner District 4 — Jeff Baldus and incumbent Tony Bennett.
• County Commissioner District 5 — incumbent Mike Ankeny.
• Auditor/Treasurer — Scott A. Felten, incumbent Steve Reinartz, and Donna Welsh.
• County Recorder — Incumbent Jill Cordes.
• County Sheriff — John Bachman and Steven Sandvik.
• County Attorney — Kristen Nelsen.
Soil and Water District
The incumbent supervisors for the three Soil and Water District seats have all filed without opposition.
• Soil and Water Supervisor District 2 (special election) — Micah Peterson.
• Soil and Water Supervisor District 3 — James Kellogg.
• Soil and Water Supervisor District 4 — Randy Smith.
A primary election will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 14, for seats with more than two candidates (except for the Utility Board).
