Wingers edge out Austin baseball team in 11 innings

The top-seeded Austin baseball team will have to do it the hard way if it wants to get the state tournament.

The Packers lost to Red Wing 8-4 in the bottom of the 11th inning at Seltz Field Thursday. The game was picked up after Tuesday’s rain delay that left the game tied at 4-4 after eight innings.

Austin had a runner on third with one out in the bottom of the tenth when Ross Young singled and stole two bases, but that was the closest the Packers came to scoring.
