Packers rally past Wingers, will play Wednesday

The Austin softball team kept its season alive in dramatic fashion as sophomore Jordyn McCormack belted a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the eighth to give the Packers a 10-7 win over Red Wing in a Section 1AAA elimination game in Todd Park Tuesday.

McCormack also hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

Austin (13-9 overall) was trailing Northfield 3-1 in the bottom of the third of another Section 1AAA elimination game when that contest was suspended and will be continued Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Todd Park. Austin is playing as the road team.

The Packers were trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the eighth before they rallied to win.
