Austin’s Wilson qualifies for state in pole vault

The Austin track and field team had one state qualifier and two athletes reach the finals on the first day of the Section 1AA meet in Lakeville Thursday.

Austin senior Aiden Wilson clinched his first ever trip to the Minnesota Class AA state track and field meet in the pole vault when he tied for first with Owatonna’s Colton Kamholz with a height of 12-feet, six inches.

Austin’s Meti Omod took fifth in the boys 800-meter run to advance to the finals and Muye Ojulu took ninth in the girls 400-meter dash to reach the finals.

The Section 1AA finals will be held in Lakeville on Friday.
