Area athletes step up at Section 1A track and field finals

Seven area athletes punched their ticket to the Minnesota Class A state track and field meet at the Section 1A finals in Elgin Thursday.

Lyle-Pacelli senior Kristi Fett took first in shot put to get to state, Hayfield’s Kalli Jo Klocke took first in pole vault to get to state and GMLOKS’s Drew Lewison advanced to state in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.

The GMLOKS girls team sent two relay teams to state — the 4 x 100-meter team of Isabelle Olson, Emily Hovden, Kassidy Kirtz and Anika Reiland, which took second, and the 4 x 200-meter relay team of Reiland, Hovden, Lauren Buchholtz and Riley Queensland, which took first.
