Trevino

Robert Trevino, 37, of Austin pleaded guilty to felony first-degree possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine-subsequent offense as part of a plea agreement on Thursday in Mower County District Court. He initially pleaded not guilty to the charge on Jan. 22.

A charge of felony first-degree possession of 100 grams or more of methamphetamine will be dismissed at the sentencing.

Trevino was arrested on Jan. 10 after police conducted a no-knock search warrant at his residence in the 1000 block of Third Avenue Northeast. As officers breached the door, a narcotics officer witnessed Trevino remove the screen from a second story window, then open and dump two bags of methamphetamine out the window.

Trevino then got onto the roof, climbed higher up the roof and threw a bag of meth onto the deck and another bag of meth onto the roof. Officers had to convince him to come down from the roof.

In all, officers seized 378 grams of methamphetamine (including what Trevino dumped), 103 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, three smartphones, a Bushnell Halo Holographic sight, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and $1,913 in cash. The meth and marijuana seized had approximate street values of $35,000 and $1,000 respectively.

A review of Trevino’s criminal record shows prior convictions for disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, assault, drug possession and second-degree drug sales.

A sentencing date has yet to be determined.
