A man found unconscious in his car on Saturday was arrested and could be facing possible drug possession and DWI charges.

Christopher Christeson, 30

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, Austin police and Gold Cross Ambulance Service responded to a call at 6:12 a.m. on Saturday about a man slumped over the steering wheel of a 2005 Silver Ford Taurus next to a gas pump at the Kwik Trip on Fourth Street Northwest.

Police and medical personnel had difficulty waking up the driver, Christopher Christeson, 30, of Maplewood. When he woke up, his speech was incoherent, according to Krueger.

Police observed a container in the vehicle that looked like it contained possible drugs. When asked about the container, Christeson said nothing.

Police administered several field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to Krueger. The substance found in the container allegedly tested positive for heroin. Approximately 1.2 grams of heroin was in the container.

Christeson was arrested and taken to the Mower County Jail. Officers obtained a search warrant to conduct a blood test.

Christeson is facing potential charges of felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and gross misdemeanor DWI-under the influence of a controlled substance, pending the results of the blood test.
