An Austin man recently charged in January with theft and violating a domestic abuse no contact order received additional charges on Tuesday.

Roger Allen Hinchley, 43
Roger Allen Hinchley, 43, was charged in Mower County District Court with felony fifth-degree assault, felony fifth-degree drug possession and felony violating a domestic abuse no contact order.
According to the court complaint, officers responded to a call at 11:31 p.m. on Saturday to Kwik Trip on Fourth Street Northwest. A man there said he was waiting in his 2014 Nissan Maxima at the intersection of Fourth Street Northwest and Interstate 90 when Hinchley allegedly tried to get into the vehicle. When he drove the vehicle to the Kwik Trip car wash, Hinchley allegedly tried to get in again. The man then parked at Kwik Trip and went in to tell the employees about the incident. Hinchley walked inside and acted like nothing happened, then walked out and allegedly got into the driver seat of the Nissan Maxima.
The driver and another man pulled Hinchley out, after which he tried to get into another car before walking south on Fourth Street. The driver said he believed Hinchley was on drugs.
The officers were alerted that Hinchley had gone to a residence in the 800 block of Fourth Street Northwest, the home of a woman that has a domestic abuse no contact order against him, according to the complaint. They arrested Hinchley and allegedly found 1.21 grams of methamphetamine on him.
Police spoke to a male at the residence, who said Hinchley stuck his foot and knee in the doorway when he answered the door, according to the report. He tried to deny Hinchley entry, but Hinchley allegedly grabbed his head and threatened to break his skull.
The woman at the residence told police Hinchley said he wanted to take a shower and that he had “paid off the cops” so the domestic assault no contact order was no longer in effect, according to the report.
Hinchley allegedly told an officer that he was in the car wash with a guy named Bill trying to stay warm and got into the Nissan Maxima while it was parked at Kwik Trip. He allegedly acknowledged there was a domestic assault no contact order in effect. He also denied the substance found on him was methamphetamine.
A review of Hinchley’s criminal history shows prior convictions for disorderly conduct, theft and violating a domestic abuse no contact order from the same woman.
Hinchley will appear in court again on March 23.
