Judith (Judy) Goergen, 75

Judith (Judy) Goergen, 75, of Austin, Minnesota, died at her home on Sunday, March 4, 2018.

Judith was born on Dec. 23, 1942, in Pine Island, Minnesota, to Wayne and Marie (Houck) Matti. She graduated from Austin High School and went on to attend beauty school at the Austin Vo-Tech. She owned and operated the Sterling Beauty Salon for many years. Judy married Robert Goergen in Austin on Sept. 28, 1963.

She was a lifetime member of Christ Episcopal Church, Hormel Women, Ramsey Golf Course and more recently Meadow Greens. Judy loved to golf and her family would like to thank her golf friends for looking out for her these past few years. She enjoyed going to the casinos to play her favorite video poker game, and when she came home she would tell everyone, “Hit another royal.” Judy loved kids and if there was ever a baby around, she made sure to hold them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Edward Matti.

Judy is survived by her husband, Robert Goergen, Austin; children, Janine (Peter) Marks, Oakland, Minnesota, Scott (Kathy) Goergen, Austin, and Tom (Marci) Goergen, Richfield, Minnesota; grandchildren, Pete Marks Jr., Elijah Marks, Ryan Himli, Nick Riste, Dustin Riste and Alexandra Minor; six great-grandchildren; siblings, David (Barb) Matti, Ferndale, Maryland, Mary Lou (Bob) Jacobs, Elmore, Minnesota, and Don (Peggy) Matti, Grand Junction, Colorado; sister-in-law, Pat Matti, Sulphur, Louisiana; brother-in-law, Jim (Debbie) Goergen, Austin; sister-in-law, Pat (Ben) Herr, Woodbury, Minnesota; and many close nieces and nephews.

Honorary bearers will be Alexandra Minor, Nick Riste, Dustin Riste, Pete Marks Jr., Elijah Marks and Ryan Himli.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Catherine Lemons officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and for one hour before the service on Saturday.
