No injuries were reported after shots were fired Wednesday night in the 1400 block of Second Avenue Southwest.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to the scene at 11:32 p.m. on Wednesday. Police found 9mm bullet casings in the street. A witness told officers that a vehicle was seen driving eastbound after the shots were fired. Another witness told police that an individual ran into an apartment in a complex in the 1400 block.
Officers entered the apartment and found three men, two 20-year-olds and an 18-year-old, inside, according to Krueger. Marijuana and a 12-gauge shotgun were allegedly in plain view in the living room. All three individuals were arrested and await possible drug and firearm charges.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, Krueger would not release their names.
A 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that was legally parked on the street had damage from bullets. The police seized the car and the shotgun found at the apartment.
There were no new developments as of Thursday afternoon, though Krueger said the public should not be concerned of any danger.
This is the second report of shots fired in Austin this year. On Jan. 7, Austin Police responded to a shots fired call at the intersection of First Avenue and Second Street Southeast. Christopher Edward Coleman, 32, and Samantha Grace Bennett, 35, both of Austin, were arrested in connection to that incident.
This is the second report of shots fired on Second Avenue Southwest in less than a year. On July 8, 2017, Jesus Alejandro Ybarra, 23, of Austin was injured after a shooting in the 800 block of Second Avenue Southwest. Ramiro Alejandro Pena, 20, of Austin was arrested in connection with that shooting, as was Ybarra after police allegedly found $20,000 worth of methamphetamine in his residence.
