Minneapolis-based Rogue Valley to begin residencies at Austin schools on Monday

Americana band Rogue Valley will visit Austin for a week of school residencies starting Monday.
The band will give a performance featuring local students at the Historic Paramount Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. Ensembles from Riverland Community College, Austin High School and the MacPhail Center for Music will be featured during the show.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students; they are available at: www.austinareaarts.org or at the Austin ArtWorks Center, 300 N Main St.
Band member Chris Koza will also host a songwriting workshop at 6 p.m. Monday at the Austin Public Library. There is no charge.
Koza will also lead residencies during the week at Riverland Community College, Austin High School, Ellis Middle School, Gerard Academy and MacPhail Center for
Music.
The Minneapolis-based band was named for a region in southern Oregon, and plays music rich in tone and texture, inspired by the Oregon landscape. The band has toured regionally and nationally and shared the stage with The Jayhawks and Spoon.
Their song, “The Wolves and the Ravens,” was featured in the film, “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” starring Ben Stiller.
Their Minnesota tour is supported by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
