The No. 16 seeded Hayfield boys basketball team opened the Section 1A tournament with a 60-56 win over No. 20 Lanesboro (2-24 overall) in Hayfield Tuesday.

Mason Tapp paced the Vikings (5-22 overall) with 23 points.

Hayfield will play at No. 2 seeded Spring Grove Thursday at 7 p.m.
