Elaine D. Kitselman, 74, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society Comforcare in Austin.
Elaine was born July 29, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Bill Kunnus and Bethsey Lund. She was raised in Minneapolis by her mother and stepfather, Lester Eidsmore, and graduated from Wayzata High School, where she was drum major for the marching band. She graduated from nursing school and worked as a charge nurse for a nursing home in Minneapolis.
Elaine was married to Craig Sundlie and they later divorced. She went on to work in the research and development area of Control Data, retiring in 1985. She later married Paul Kitselman and they divorced. She moved to Taopi, Minnesota, and in more recent years had lived in Austin.
Elaine was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and active with the Salvation Army, where she was a bell ringer for over 20 years. She was an active volunteer with Little Brother, Friend of the Elderly, Meals on Wheels and a member of the VFW Auxiliary for over 50 years. She enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts, coloring, playing Bingo and cards and she loved reading.
Elaine was a Christian and believed in Jesus. She loved the Lord; she encouraged people and tried to help as many as she could.
She was preceded in death by her son, Leif Sundlie; step daddy, Lester Eidsmore; father, Bill Kunnus; and mother, Betty Eidsmore.
Elaine is survived by her children, Denise and husband Mark Rascovich, Piedmont, Oklahoma, Mark Sundlie, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dana Powers, Oklahoma City, and Michelle Sundlie, Austin; grandchildren, Andrew Sundlie and girlfriend Cassidy Richardson, Arden Hills, Minnesota, Amber Rascovich, Edmund, Oklahoma, and Leif Rascovich, Tulsa, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Leland Robles, Chloe Rascovich, Lucy Rascovich, Laila Joy Sundlie, and Aiden Lennox; siblings, Kathy Kunnus, Minneapolis, Bill Kunnus, Minneapolis, Jeanie Zaccardi, Cape Coral, Florida, and Shirley Brown, Cape Coral; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, at Good Samaritan Society Comforcare Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Jeffrey Forbes officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday.
