ACT to perform musical comedy ‘Don’t Hug Me, We’re Married’

Albert Lea Community Theatre (ACT) continues its 53rd season with the musical comedy “Don’t Hug Me, We’re Married” at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, Feb. 22 to March 3.
Part of the smash hit “Don’t Hug Me” musical comedy series, the show takes place in a small north woods bar in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota. Gunner and Clara Johnson are owners of the bar.
The romance has left their marriage and Clara would like to get it back. When Gunner finds a pamphlet that Clara was hiding for Divorce Fantasy Camp, he realizes he needs to do something. Meanwhile, Bernice, the waitress, gets engaged to Aarvid, a karaoke salesman. Gunner’s twin sister, Trigger, comes to town and proposes to Kanute, the local business icon.
Cast members include Gordy Handeland, Jason Howland, Lisa Sturtz, Teresa Wilson and Luke Zacharias.
“Don’t Hug Me, We’re Married,” directed by Sue Jorgensen with music direction by Barb Lang, will be performed on Feb. 22, 23, 24, 25 and 28; and March 1, 2 and 3. Shows start at 7:30 p.m., with the Sunday, Feb. 25, matinee, at 2 p.m.
