Patricia (Pat) Jean Hyland, 80, died unexpectedly on Jan. 11, 2018, at her home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Pat was born on Sept. 21, 1937, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Viola and Henry Grundmeier. Later they moved to Austin, Minnesota, where she graduated from Austin High School. She was married to Loren Hyland for 57 years until his death.

Pat was actively involved in the Austin community, working for the United Way, First Bank Austin, and Joseph Construction. She enjoyed her retirement working as a Spambassador for the Hormel Spam Museum.

A caring friend to many, her kind and generous spirit will be greatly missed. Above all, she treasured her three daughters and granddaughter.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; and her two sisters, Anna and Jackie. She is survived by her three daughters, Jodi (Bill) Sorensen, Denver, Colorado, Julie (Bob) Jenkins, Houston, Texas, and Jane Hyland, Minneapolis; and granddaughter, Haley Sorensen, Denver.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Austin Country Club, 1202 28th St. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are sent to the Animal Humane Society, 845 Meadow Lane North, Golden Valley, MN, or Mayo Clinic Home Health Hospice.
