Geography bee first-place winner, Allison Srp, will now take a qualifying test, which will be submitted to the National Geographic Society.

The National Geographic Society will then invite up to 100 of the top-qualifying Minnesota participants to the Minnesota State Bee to be held on April 6.

The annual contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography, according to the bee’s website. Schools with students in grades four through eight are eligible for this entertaining and challenging test of geographic knowledge.
