Marjorie Ann Boell, 87

Marjorie Ann Boell, 87, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2018, at her home in Hayfield, Minnesota.
Marjorie was born on Jan. 30, 1930, in Jackson County, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Luella (Keeney) Eckelberg. She attended Fairfield No. 2 Country School before graduating from Maquoketa, Iowa High School in 1948. She worked at the bakery after graduating and worked at the telephone office until 1951, when she married Donald Roe. They farmed and milked cows until his death in October 1961. Marjorie moved to Maquoketa and worked at the South Inn as a waitress and met Howard Boell. They were married in June 1963. She continued to work at the South Inn until her daughter, Mary Pat, started first grade, after which she was employed at a dry cleaner. In 1967, the family moved to Hayfield, where she was a wife and mother. In 1979, she started working for Hayfield Window and Door until Howie’s death in 1994. Marjorie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Hayfield and the VFW of Maquoketa. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family. Since her retirement, she enjoyed sewing for other people, quilting and volunteering her time making lap throws for veteran homes in Minnesota. Marjorie enjoyed morning coffee and pull-tabs at Uncle Mony’s.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Mary Pat (Daryl) Busker, Austin, Minnesota; step grandchildren, Jeremy Busker, Austin, Heather Ryks, Austin, Jolene and Jed Williams, St. Charles, Minnesota, Justin Busker, Rochester, Minnesota, and Jessica Vogen, Rochester; step great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Peyton, Hailey, Emma, Elsie, Jesse, and Jayden; sisters, Vivian Roe, Maquoketa, and Eloise (Harry) Rubel, Otter Creek, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald Roe and Howard Boell; sister, Muriel (Mimi) Allan; brothers, Louis (Bud) Eckelberg, Donald (Deck) Eckelberg, and Eugene (Slim) Eckelberg; three nephews; and one niece.
The memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church, 109 East Main St. in Hayfield with the Rev. Kirk Johnston officiating. Visitation will be at 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second St. NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Inurnment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa.
