Gash earns superior rating at regional/state music
Nyachan Gash, a junior at Austin High School, earned a superior rating at the region/state music contests on Jan. 20 at Lakeville South High School.
Over 160 students participated and garnered 74 superior ratings and 91 excellent ratings.
Gash’s name was inadvertently left off the initital list of ratings for Austin High School, released from the contest judges and published earlier this week.
Ratings were given for choir, band and orchestra performances.
Austin’s Patel named to dean’s list
AUSTIN, Texas — Krishna Patel of Austin, Minnesota, was recognized as a member of the Austin (Texas) College’s top 20 percent of students by being included on the dean’s list for the fall term of 2017. The list included 243 individuals.
Romero accepted to Luther College
DECORAH, Iowa — Scot Schaeffer, Luther College vice president for enrollment management, recently announced that Christopher Romero of Austin has been accepted for admission for the 2018-19 academic year. A national liberal arts college with an enrollment of 2,050, Luther offers an academic curriculum that leads to the bachelor of arts degree in more than 60 majors and pre-professional programs.
Area students receive degrees from UW-River Falls
RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Two area residents were among 382 students to receive degrees from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in December. Kelley Krayecki, of Austin, earned a bachelor of science degree in agricultural business.
Bryce Benson, of Grand Meadow, earned a bachelor of science degree in biology.
Area residents on UW-La Crosse’s fall 2017 dean’s list
LA CROSSE, Wis. — Area residents have been named to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse dean’t list for the fall semester. To be eligible, students must have earned not less than a 3.5 semester grade point average and have carried a minimum of 12 credits.
Students from Grand Meadow on the list are Kaitlyn Kirtz (psychology), McKenzie Kirtz (school health education), Cassidy Reinartz and Alex Ruechel (exercise and sport science), and Tyler Westrich (a public health and community health education).
On the list from Austin are Christopher Kirchgatter, (accountancy) and Sydney Murphy (nuclear medicine technology major.
Grand Meadow’s Caitlyn Snyder (psychology) is also on the list.
