Demolition crews plan to begin demolition this week of the downtown power plant water intake building on the north side of the site, adjacent to the Mill Pond. During the demolition of this structure the Mill Pond Trail will be closed.
The defunct plant is being taken down so a new recreation center can be constructed.
Austin Municipal Utilities plans to post time-lapse video of the demolition as the project progresses.
