Austin school bus and minivan collide at intersection

No injuries were reported after a collision Thursday involving an Austin Public Schools bus and a minivan at an uncontrolled intersection.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, police responded to a call at 4:10 p.m. of the crash at the intersection of Sixth Street and 13th Avenue Southwest. A Toyota Sienna driven by a 37-year-old woman from LeRoy was driving east on 13th Avenue Southwest when it collided with the bus driven by a 76-year-old man going south on Sixth Street Southwest.

Three juvenile males, ages 7, 9 and 11, were on board the bus at the time.

The impact of the collision forced the bus into the front lawn of the residence at 611 13th Ave. SW. The residence was not damaged.

No injuries were reported, but both vehicles sustained front-end damage. The Toyota Sienna had to be towed from the scene. The Minnesota State Patrol was called to inspect the bus.

No citations were issued.
