Maureen A. Petrucci, 74, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, Dec. 19,  2017, from complications following a stroke at Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Mary’s Campus, where she had been a patient for the past 11 days.

Maureen Anne Murphy was born on Sept. 15, 1943, in Indiana to William and Elizabeth Murphy. She moved as an infant with her parents to Connecticut and attended school there through high school. After high school she attended nursing school, and after graduating was employed as a nurse at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Maureen was married on Oct. 16, 1965, in Connecticut to Pasquale M. Petrucci. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Connecticut before moving to Morristown, New Jersey. They were later divorced. In 1992, Maureen moved to Eagan, Minnesota, where she continued her nursing career until retirement. She moved to Stewartville, Minnesota, in 1995 to live near her daughter, Annemarie, and her family who had moved to rural Grand Meadow. Since 2008, Maureen has made her home as a resident at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center. She was a past member of the Assembly of God Church in the various communities where she lived. Maureen was an avid knitter who enjoyed crafts, cooking, reading, playing cards and spending time with friends at the care center. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Maureen’s family would like to thank all the staff on Domatilla – 2D at St. Mary’s for the excellent care given during the last days of our Mother’s and Grandmother’s life and to all the wonderful staff at Grand Meadow Care Center who made her a part of their community and cared for her like family these last years of her life.

Maureen is survived by her daughter, Annemarie (Mark) Vaupel of Austin, Minnesota; her son, Louis (Deb) Petrucci of Brooklyn, New York; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Petrucci of Morris Plains, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Robert (Mallory) Vaupel, Benjamin Vaupel, Isabella Petrucci, Gabriella Petrucci, Adrianna Petrucci, and Olivia Petrucci; and brother, William (Nancy) Murphy of Kissimmee, Florida. She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Petrucci; and her parents.

A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Maureen’s family suggests memorials be sent to The Hormel Institute in Austin.
