The No. 1 ranked Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team held off a late charge to beat No. 7 ranked Cromwell-Wright (3-2 overall) 64-53 in the Breakdown Invitational in Minnetonka Saturday.
The Athletics (5-0 overall) led 36-16 at the break, but CW hit five straight threes to pull within 58-51 with five minutes left in the game. LP’s Kristi Fett, who had 30 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks, responded with back-to-back scores to put LP back up 62-51.
LP used a 25-6 run to take its big lead early as Brooke Walter, who had 15 points, eight assists and seven steals, capped the rally with back-to-back three-pointers.
