Jeanne M. Lauritzen, 92

Jeanne M. (Maloney) Lauritzen, 92, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at Sacred Heart Care Center.

Jeanne was born April 4, 1925, in Preston, Minnesota, to Eugene and Mary (O’Connor) Maloney. She moved to Austin, Minnesota, at a young age and attended St. Augustine grade school. She graduated from Austin High School in 1943 and went on to Cosmetology school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On July 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Bob Lauritzen. They lived in Austin, where they raised four children. She was part owner of The Golden Tress Beauty Salon for many years. She loved her profession and worked as a hairdresser for 52 years.

Jeanne was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, and needlework. She was proud of her Irish heritage and took two trips to Ireland. She loved summer vacations spent at Leech Lake with family, and friends.

Survivors include her children, Sue Frank, Mary (Jerry) Butlin, Mike (Betty) Lauritzen, and Joanie (Jim) Perrin; grandchildren, Joe (Kelli) Frank, Jeff (Maria) Frank, Annie (Ryan) Booth, Abbie (Jon) Kozitza, Damian (Tracy) Lauritzen, Katie (Dean) Bolin, Bob (Maria) Lauritzen, and Alex Perrin; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Vaith, Kay Hahn, and Maryann Maloney; brothers, Vince (Nancy) Maloney, and Ray (Mary Jo) Maloney; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Lauritzen; brother, Jack Maloney; brothers-in-law, Ed Vaith and Jerry Hahn; son-in-law, Al Frank; infant son, Joseph Robert.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Tupper officiating. There will be a 6:30 p.m. CCW rosary service on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Mayer Funeral Home. Friends and family may call from 4-7p.m. at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
