The Hayfield girls basketball team beat Mayer Lutheran (1-3 overall) 66-51 in the Breakdown Invitational in Minnetonka Saturday.
The Vikings (3-1 overall) played a stretch of the first half without Maggie Streightiff, who had three early fouls, but still finished with 16 points. Hayfield led 31-25 at the break, but it opened the second half on an 8-0 run.
“It was difficult in the first half because they have size and Maggie is our only girl with size,” Hayfield co-head coach Kasey Krekling said.
Olivia Matti added 19 points for Hayfield.
