Police and medical personnel responded to a July call to Spoors’ home because he was “not acting right.” Spoors told police he wanted to kill himself because he could not handle some tooth pain. He agreed to go to the hospital with the ambulance crew.

Spoors then punched a member of the ambulance crew on the right side of the face.

Spoors told an officer that he had smoked methamphetamine and assaulted the ambulance crewmember because he wanted to “go back to jail.”

In Minnesota, felony fourth-degree assault on emergency medical personnel carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.

Spoors will be sentenced on Feb. 16.
