Milda M. Gemmel, 100, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at the Episcopal Church Home in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Milda Marie Ranum was born Jan. 10, 1917, in Lansing Township, Mower County, the daughter of Arne and Emma (Mathieson) Ranum. She attended country school in Lansing Township. Milda worked at the Geo. A. Hormel Co. She was married to Kenneth Arthur John Gemmel on Oct. 21, 1934, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Milda worked as a cook at the Cedar Child Care Center and later at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home, but her main occupation was being a mother and grandmother.
She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and played cards in a neighborhood card club. Milda enjoyed spending summer weekends at the family cabin on French Lake at Faribault, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a son, Richard Gemmel; brothers and sisters.
Milda is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, David Gemmel, St. Paul, Michael and Mary Gemmel, Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Dee Gemmel, Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Reverend Keely Morgan officiating. Interment will be at Cedar City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials are preferred to the Austin Salvation Army or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
