Per a message on the Austin Daily Herald Facebook page, a meeting will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at Skinners Hill for anyone willing to help search for Dennis Hanson.

Those interested should bring a flashlight, wear warm clothing, wear boots if possible and wear reflective blaze orange vests.

According to Capt. David McKichan of the Austin Police Department, citizens are allowed to aid in the search; however, they must be aware of safety and legal concerns involved with such activity.

McKichan advises:

• Be aware that it is deer hunting season;

• Respect private property rights by not searching on private property;

• Understand the terrain of where you are searching;

• Be aware of the temperature; and

• Monitor the time and do not be out after dark.
