Austin man faces felony drug charges; Sale occurred near Sumner Elementary

Brandon Michael Zarate-Sanchez, 23, of Austin was charged Tuesday in Mower County District Court with two felonies related to selling drugs.

According to the court complaint, a police informant met with Zarate-Sanchez on May 10 a half block away from Sumner Elementary School and bought 0.81 grams of methamphetamine. Zarate-Sanchez met with the informant a little later and sold him 2.91 grams of methamphetamine.

Zarate-Sanchez is charged with second-degree sale of methamphetamine in a school zone, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. The second charge, third-degree sale of a narcotic hasĀ  a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
