Residents of a home in the 18000 block of Highway 105 South returned home Wednesday night to find their house had been burglarized.

According to Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May, deputies responded to the call at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The residents said they had left at 5:30 p.m. and when they returned home at about 9 p.m. they found their front window had been smashed.

A deadbolt used to lock the bedroom door had been pried off and $12,600 hidden under the mattress had been stolen. Nothing else had been stolen from the property.

The case is under investigation.
