SUV driver injured in head-on collision with semi-trailer

A Brownsdale man was transported to Mayo Health System-Austin Wednesday afternoon following a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer just north of Austin.
According to a Minnesota State Patrol report, a Ford Expedition driven by David Robert Sorensen was traveling southbound on Highway 218 when he attempted to make a left turn onto 243rd Street where he collided with a northbound traveling tractor-trailer driven by Nathan Marc Magaard of Alexandria, Minnesota.
The accident occurred about 2 p.m. According to the report, Sorensen suffered non-life threatening injuries and alcohol was involved. He was transported to the hospital via Gold Cross Ambulance.
There was no alcohol involved with Magaard, who suffered no injuries in the crash. Both men were seat-belted.
Sorenson could be facing charges, pending the results of a blood test.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Department deputies, Austin police, and the Austin Fire Department assisted.
