St. Olaf sesquicentennial celebration is Oct. 28-29

St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin will celebrate its 150th anniversary over the weekend of Oct. 28-29.
The celebration begins with a banquet on Saturday evening, which will include music, video, and remarks from the Rev. Harold (Huck) Usgaard, former St. Olaf pastor and bishop emeritus of the Southeastern Minnesota Synod. The social hour begins at 5 p.m. Dinner begins at 6:15 p.m.
The congregation will commune together on Sunday morning with the current bishop, Steve Delzer, presiding. Service times are 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
On Oct. 28, 1867, St. Olaf Lutheran Church was organized by Rev. C. L. Claussen and several Norwegian settlers. They met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nils Johnson, with 38 people present, according to the church’s website.
