In 1967, Kay married Robert Finney of Canton, Minnesota, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston. The couple lived in Rochester, Minnesota, while finishing studies at Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) and then moved to Austin where Kay had a successful career at the Hormel Credit Union (now Accentra) while Bob was with Hormel Foods.

Family life was first and foremost for Kay, whose household was always busy with school sports, music concerts, holiday and birthday celebrations, beloved pets, church activities, and family vacations. As adults, all her children lived in close proximity, and she and Bob were able to enjoy being part of the lives of their eight cherished granddaughters. They traveled extensively with friends and family.

Survivors include husband, Bob; son, Kyle (Robyn) Finney; daughter, Kirsten Shipler; son Nathan (Becky) Finney; eight granddaughters, Taylor and Rylee Finney, Madeline and Morgan Shipler, Nicole Beeman, and Mikayla, Hannah and Kellie Finney; and great-grandson, Carter Beeman. She is also survived by a brother, Jon DeVries (Christine) of Chicago and Preston. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Brenda Kay Finney; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Fossum.

Byron Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.  Online condolences are welcome at www.byronfuneralhome.com
