The Hayfield volleyball team wrapped up its regular season Friday and Saturday with a third place finish at the Rochester Exchange Club Volleyball Invite.
The Vikings went 3-1 over the two days with two-game wins against Kingsland (25-9, 25-15), Forest Lake (25-20, 26-24) and Rochester Mayo (28-26, 25-12). Its only loss came at the hands of Glencoe-Silver Lake in three games — 25-12, 21-25 and 19-21.
Kate Kruger talled 37 kills for the four matches with Maggie Streightiff registering 35 kills and 64 assists. Cela Carney held down the defense with 50 digs.
“We found good competition and played extremely well, only dropping two sets the entire tournament,” head coach Jeremy Struck said. “Sub-section tournament play is just around the corner, so playing your best ball at the end becomes very important.”
The Vikings are the No. 1 seed in the Section 1A West bracket and received a bye the first round. They will host the winner of a match featuring No. 8-seed Lyle-Pacelli and No. 9 seeded Christian Life Academy at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
