Cross country: Austin’s Hinchcliffe and Lewis are headed to state meet

A pair of Austin runners punched a ticket to the Minnesota Class AA state cross country meet at the Section 1AA meet in Owatonna Thursday.
Austin junior Henry Hinchcliffe earned his first ever trip to state by finishing in fourth place with a time of 16:26.5 in the boys race and junior Abby Lewis earned her fourth career trip to state by finishing in eighth place with a time of 19:02.9.
Sophomore Meti Omot finished in 15th place for the Austin boys, missing out on a trip to state by about 11 seconds behind Kasson-Manorville’s George Gustafuson, who took 11th and took the last individual qualifying spot for state. Morgan Hose took 21st for the Austin girls.
The Packer boys finished in fifth place out of 16 teams at the meet and the Packer girls took 12th place.
