The No. 10 ranked Blooming Prairie football team used a late charge to beat No. 8 Mayer Lutheran (6-1 overall) 28-27 in BP Friday.
BP trailed 27-13 with 8:30 left in the game and Max Romeo got the comeback started when he broke a pair of tackles on his way to a 49-yard TD run. The Awesome Blossoms (6-1 overall) took the lead for good when Seth Peterson hit Colin Lerum for a 20-yard TD pass with and Lucas Noble ran in the two-point conversion with 1:48 left in the game.
BP head coach Chad Gimbel said he went for two because he wasn’t sure that BP could get the snap down on a kick attempt.
“It had been shaky on the kicks earlier,” Gimbel said. “I’m impressed with the way we came back.”
