Roger was born on Nov. 12, 1941, in Hayfield, the son of Orville and Marjorie (Janes) Jacobson.  Roger graduated from Hayfield High School in 1959, and was united in marriage to Betty Yentsch on Dec. 18, 1961, in Hayfield.

Roger was a buttermaker in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Later, he worked for Knutson Construction and Owatonna Manufacturing. For 27 years he managed the grain elevator in Sargeant, Minnesota and delivered parts for NAPA for 16 years.  Throughout his career he farmed the family farm and raised hogs for many years. Roger enjoyed fishing on Leech Lake, gardening and spending time with his family.

Betty and Roger were foster parents for many years.

Roger is survived by his wife, Betty Jacobson, Hayfield; children, Linette (Gary) Heydt, Ventura, Iowa, Lou Ann (Jeff) Augustin, Cape Coral, Florida, Dawn (Gary) Allen, Hayfield, and Nathan (Leah) Jacobson, Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, James (LaVonne) Jacobson, Rochester, Minnesota, Sharon (Buzz) Roberts, Hayfield, Robert Jacobson, Rochester, Jon (Kim) Jacobson, Hayfield, and Shelley (Paul) Steger, Rochester.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Darcy Jacobson.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 Second St. NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church, 109 Main St. E in Hayfield with the Rev. Kirk Johnston officiating. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
