ADAMS — The Southland volleyball team is still looking to find its groove and it found out it has some work to do on the defensive end of the court after it lost to Fillmore Central by scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-10 in Adams Thursday.

The Rebels (1-6 overall, 1-2 Three Rivers) took a 2-0 lead early in the second and third games, but they trailed 4-0 to start the first game and they ended up with big deficits half-way through all three games.

Southland head coach Lisa Hovde said FC was able to stay in control with its back row play.

“Defensively they were probably by far the best team we’ve seen this year. They didn’t let anything drop,” Hovde said. “That’s something we need to work on. You can’t just play offense. You need to play defense too and that’s what we’re going to work on. Tomorrow in practice we’re going to pass, pass pass.”
