Austin senior keeper Josh Brehmer has had a great view from the net this season as he’s watched his teammates display their firepower on a nightly basis. Although he hasn’t had to make a lot of saves, Brehmer isn’t complaining.

It was another laid back night for Brehmer in goal as the Packers picked up a 12-0 win over Red Wing (1-6 overall, 0-5 Big Nine) in Art Hass Stadium Thursday.

The win was the third shutout of the season for Brehmer, who had eight saves, as the Packers (6-0 overall, 5-0 Big Nine) have now outscored their first six opponents by a total score of 33-3.

“It’s been a lot of fun. I haven’t had too much to do this year and that’s always nice. We’re possessing the ball a lot and getting a lot more shots than our opponents,” Brehmer said. “We have to keep working. If we don’t, there are teams that want to take us down, especially when we’re undefeated.”

Austin pounded out 22 shots in Thursday’s win and Lonyjera Okal and Kevin Ortiz each had a hat trick. Su Reh and Sam Bailey each had two goals, Mooday Wah had a goal and sophomore Dylan Hanegraf had his first varsity goal. Freshman Henry Tolbert had two assists.

Austin head coach Jens Levisen was pleased with the goals his teams scored, but he was even more thrilled with how the Packers did their goal scoring.

“It’s definitely fun. When you start to see that score separating you want to emphasize how we’re playing,” Levisen said. “Are we still playing are style of soccer or are we defaulting into something else because we perceive that it’s a little easier? Some of the goals we hit were beautiful. That one that Suh hit at the end, where he had a one-touch and he hit the corner happened just the way we wanted it to.”

Austin took over the game early in the first half as Okal scored two goals in a 24-second span to make it 2-0 with 30 minutes left in the first half. The Packers led 5-0 at halftime.
