A woman told police that a black male, wearing a red shirt, had stolen her wallet from her shopping cart. She immediately confronted him and attempted to pat him down, at which point he fled the store. She told police he got into a vehicle, then immediately got out, and ran northbound toward a wooded area.

Four Austin police officers established a perimeter around the area and brought in a K-9 to aid in the search. Officers could hear Easley walking through the woods.

Easley came out of the woods, but would not get on the ground when police ordered him to do so. Easley complied when officers drew their Tasers, said Krueger. Easley was taken into custody without incident.

Walmart’s security footage showed Easley taking the wallet from the shopping cart and the woman confronting him.
