The Hayfield volleyball team picked up its biggest win of the season when it edged out Stewartville (10-2 overall, 4-1 HVL), which is ranked No. 2 in Class AA, by scores of 25-19, 20-25, 10-25, 29-17, 15-13 in Hayfield Tuesday.

Kate Kruger had 15 kills for the Vikings (14-3 overall, 5-1 HVL), who are ranked No. 5 in Class A, and Carrie Rutledge had 13 kills and 31 digs.

“The games were close and the whole community was behind the girls,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “The [girls] never lost their cool even when down big in game three. It was a matter of fighting to the very end. It took everything we had tonight to beat Stewartville.”
