The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms used some late-game heroics as they defeated Fillmore Central (1-1) 18-12 Friday night in Blooming Prairie (2-0).

Blossoms’ quarterback Seth Peterson hit Payton Simon for a 28-yard touchdown with 2:08 left in the game for the win. Peterson was 17-for-28 with 215 yards on the night with a pair of TD strikes while Simon would end the night with 46 yards receiving on three catches.

“We would get a score and then they would respond and then kept answering until right there at the end,” coach Chad Gimbel said. “ I thought both teams played pretty well at times and then both teams would make some mistakes.”
