Dean Allen Vatnsdal, 34, of Austin pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor domestic assault as part of a plea agreement on Monday in Mower County District Court.

Charges of felony domestic assault and misdemeanor open bottle will be dropped at the time of sentencing.

According to the court report, police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 500 block of Seventh Street Northeast. A woman outside the residence told police she and a friend wanted to go to a casino, but Vatnsdal did not want them to go. She said in the ensuing argument, Vatnsdal threw objects at her, some of which struck her. She expressed fear of Vatnsdal and said he had been “drinking all day.”

Police found Vatnsdal in his car a block away. He claimed he did not throw anything at the woman.

Vatnsdal will be sentenced on Nov. 30.
