The Austin girls soccer team opened its season with a 3-0 loss to Waseca on the road Thursday.

Cassity Nangle and Sydney Marsh combined for 11 saves in the loss for Austin (0-1 overall) and the Packers trailed 1-0 at the half.

“It was a good game to show us where we need to be at in sections in regards to physicality and movement,” Austin head coach Jake Levisen said. “I know that we will make some changes, but we have to continue to believe in ourselves and push each other every day in practice.”

Austin had five shots on goal.
