Man pleads not guilty to solicitating minors; Police seized computers and cell phones

A man who allegedly solicited underage males for sex via social media pleaded not guilty on Thursday in Mower County District Court.

Rodger James Montgomery, 62, pleaded not guilty to felony prostitution —hiring or agreeing to hire someone 13 to 15 years of age; felony soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct through electronic communication; and felony soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct.

According to the court report, the Austin Police Department received information Montgomery had solicited underage boys for sex via Facebook Messenger.

Police executed a search warrant on Montgomery’s residence and seized two computer towers, monitor, router, cellphone and notebook containing usernames and passwords. Montgomery told police his computer and cellphone had been hacked.

His pre-trial is scheduled for Dec. 1.
