According to the court report, Griese’s ex-girlfriend called the Mower County Sheriff’s Office to report that she was afraid of Griese because he threatened to kill her, burn down her home and kill her family. She was advised to get a restraining order.

She called the Sheriff’s Office 30 minutes later and said Griese’s truck was parked in front of her trailer at a mobile home in Dexter.  She said her doors were locked and Griese did not have a key to her residence.  Dispatch advised her to park down the street until deputies arrived.

While she was parked down the street, she told dispatch that Griese left her residence and drove to her father’s trailer on the same street.

A deputy arrived and detained Griese.

Griese told the deputy he wanted to “see my woman and get some of my things.” He said he was unaware that she was no longer his girlfriend.

His ex-girlfriend told deputies they had broken up a month ago and that he knew he was not welcome at her residence.

Griese initially told deputies that he went into her residence through the entryway, which was unlocked. He later said he entered through the side door. Deputies found scratches on the side doorframe consistent with a screwdriver being used to gain access.

A search of Griese’s truck produced three diaries and an electronic tablet belonging to the ex-girlfriend.
