Jerald Lee Laskewitz, 82 of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.

He was born July 16, 1935, the son of Dormond and Alice (Schroeder) Laskewitz in Austin, Minnesota. He attended school in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1953. He served with the United States Army from April 13, 1957 to Oct. 12, 1957. On May 19, 1956, Jerry was united in marriage to Kathleen Evelyn Smith at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. They had five children together.

For 43 years, Jerry was employed as a printer for the Austin Daily Herald. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood in western movies. He loved to read Louis L`Amour books. Jerry was a true outdoorsman with a love of animals or reptiles of any kind.

He is survived by his children, LeaAnn (LaVerne) Gilbert of Dexter, Minnesota, Dale (Pam) Laskewitz, Sharon (Matt) Holten and Sue Wolf, all of Austin, and Terese (Trent Hinkley) Ingvaldson of Rochester, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren, Ellen (Jesse) Sheehan, Curtis Gilbert, Travis (Brianna) Gilbert, Jennifer Laskewitz, Derek (Beth) Laskewitz, Mike (Alicia Weatherly) Holten, Alexandra Holten, Heather Wolf, Ethan Wolf, Isaac Ingvaldson, as well as Zach and Avery Hinkley; great-grandson, Tannor Sheehan, as well as Maddy and Carter Sheehan; brother, David (Judy) Laskewitz of Austin; sister, Randee (Dan Johnson) Laskewitz of Port Orange, Florida; also many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Laskewitz in 2015; his parents, Dormond and Alice Laskewitz; and a sister, Jolene Ellsworth.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Steven DeFor officiating. Interment will follow the service in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4  to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Worlein Funeral Home. Memorials can be directed to the Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
