Doris Mae Flanders, 87, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Doris was born June 9, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Mable and John Pipke.

On Aug. 8, 1953, she married Elders (Slim) Flanders. They lived in Austin. Doris retired from Land O’ Lakes in Albert Lea, Minnesota, in 1995. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, camping, fishing, and going to the casino.

She is survived by her children, Les, Prescott, Wisconsin, Duane (Jennifer), Gilbert, Iowa, and Jimmy (Laura), Newport, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elders (Slim) Flanders; and daughter, Cindy Kauffman.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Grace Lutheran Church.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
