Divers retrieve vehicle that rolled into Cedar River

An Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department dive team was called to assist in the retrieval of a vehicle that rolled into the Cedar River on Friday evening.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to a call of a vehicle rolling into the Cedar River at 5:04 p.m. on Friday. The owner of the 2015 white KIA Optima said he stopped the vehicle on a flat spot on a boat landing near the Old Mill Restaurant.
The vehicle then rolled into the river after he exited.
The vehicle was completely submerged when the officers arrived. Officers reported seeing bubbles surfacing approximately 20 feet offshore.
The dive team and a tow truck from Troy Nichol’s Towing retrieved the vehicle at about 9 p.m.
